The Merriest Kidmas
Dec. 15th, 2014 06:02 pmI asked the kids if they wanted to put up the tree on the day after Thanksgiving, and oh man you'd have thought I asked if they wanted a gold shitting puppy. It took awhile for Ian to dig it out of its storage spot, find the bins of ornaments et cetera, and get all of the lights to work. I laughed and laughed, remembering my own childhood Christmas tree angst. Finally, all of the Christmas tree pre-flight checks were complete and I left the kids to their own decorating devices.
They dug right into our shatterproof ornaments and made sure that every single one had a loopy little hook to secure it to the tree. They laughed and they cooperated for many glorious minutes, Jonas hoisting Iliana up onto his shoulders so that she could get another one hung way up high. Iliana bossing around her older brother, demanding she get to place all of the dark blue ones because they're her favorite. Jonas negotiating the privilege of a few dark blue ones in exchange for another lift onto his shoulders which he was totally going to do anyway.
It was totally, totally bitchin'.
